Joey Blu & BlueZbone
Joseph Bowie a.k.a. Joey Blu is the founder of the legendary band Defunkt. For more than 45 years he has performed and recorded in various genres of free jazz, Big Bands and small ensembles. He performed as a special guest with various artists, including Sean Kuti, Pee Wee Ellis, Anthony Joseph, Sam Rivers, Henry Threadgill, Cecil Taylor, Doctor John, Oliver Lake and more. Now 14 years in the Netherlands, Joe continues the legacy of Defunkt. Now Joe is visiting his roots in Blues & R & B from his birthplace St. Louis, where he performed with Albert King, Oliver Sain, Fontella Bass, Etta James and later in Chicago with Little Milton and a stint with R & B mentor Tyrone. Davis as his bandleader. With brothers Jeffrey van Duffelen (drums), Sylvain van Duffelen (bass), he formed together with the energetic guitarist Patrick van der Hoeven his' roots-alter ego band '... Joey Blu & BlueZbone, a NEW St. Louis Chittlin' Style Blues Band was born. BlueZbone performs blues classics and original songs in a funky blues style.

Joseph Bowie a.k.a. Joey Blu is de oprichter van de legendarische band Defunkt. Al meer dan 45 jaar heeft hij opgetreden en opgenomen in verschillende genres van free-jazz, Big Bands en kleine ensembles. Hij trad op als speciale gast bij verschillende artiesten, waaronder Sean Kuti, Pee Wee Ellis, Anthony Joseph, Sam Rivers, Henry Threadgill, Cecil Taylor, Doctor John, Oliver Lake en meer. Nu 14 jaar in Nederland, blijft Joe de erfenis van Defunkt voortzetten. Nu bezoekt Joe zijn roots in Blues & R & B uit zijn geboorteplaats St. Louis, waar hij optrad met Albert King, Oliver Sain, Fontella Bass, Etta James en later in Chicago met Little Milton en een stint met R & B-mentor Tyrone Davis als zijn bandleider .
